    Utility mulls future of hydroelectric dams

    ELKHART — Long-terms plans for two aging hydroelectric dams on the St. Joseph River are under consideration – plans that might include relicensing the facilities and continuing full operations in the decades ahead, or removing them and restoring a free-flowing river.

    Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) announced it was exploring the best long-term options for the Elkhart and Mottville facilities and planned two meetings next week for the public to learn more about the process.
