    Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce honors members

    The Yadkin Valley Chamber of Commerce honored its members last Tuesday at its annual awards banquet held at Coley Hall at The Liberty in downtown Elkin.

    Following a social networking time and dinner, Board Chairman Paul Hammes gave an overview of the past year’s successes for the chamber.

    Business and community leaders from the Elkin, Jonesville area were recognized during a special awards presentation.

    Ambassador of the year was presented to Aaron Misenheimer of Edward Jones in Jonesville.

    Mitzi Settle, owner of the Elkin Railyard beer garden, was honored with the Innovation Award.

    The Rebel Good Tourism Award was presented to Chris Groner and Debbie Carson of The Reeves Theater.

    Jonesville Elementary School Principal Ida Wiesner was honored with the Education Excellence Award.

    The Community Beautification Award went to Michael Tilly of Unique Transportations.

    The Johnsie Hudspeth Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to Katee Hettleman, Hugh Chatham Health Foundation Director.

    Gary York of WIFM was named Member of the Year.

    The Duke Energy Award went to Marty Roberts of Rid A Bug.
