Utah's Straw Test Crackdown
Utah is known for many things—beautiful mountains, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mitt Romney—but it truly distinguishes itself when it comes to notoriously ridiculous alcohol laws. While the state's so-called "Zion Curtain" has widely been considered one of the dumbest booze rules in America, it turns out there is no limit on inane drinks laws in the Beehive State. In fact, state regulators have recently upped their bureaucratic ante by cracking down on bartenders who use a "straw test" to sample cocktails before serving.
Proposal to change Clark County to ‘Las Vegas County’
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - The Chair of Clark County proposes that Nevada’s most populous area have a name change to “Las Vegas County.”. Chair Tick Segerblom has become the first local county official to publicly support a county name change, telling FOX5 that some county commissioners have discussed and endorse the idea for regional and tourism “branding” for the Entertainment Capital of the World.
Roughly 100 Hidden Valley homes impacted by flash flooding
RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — Hidden Valley residents are dealing with the aftermath of sudden flash flooding that slammed the area of Sunday evening. The areas impacted most by flood waters stretch from Blue Hills Drive down to Loma Vista Lane and E. Hidden Valley Dr. Washoe County says roughly 100 homes were impacted by the downpour.

Western Video Market Holds 35th Annual July Video Sale
From July 8-10, Western Video Market represented over 162,000 head of cattle in their 35th edition of the July video sale. The sale was broadcast live from the Silver Legacy Resort & Casino in Reno, Nevada. This sale featured cattle from some of the most prominent ranches in 14 western states. During the week, educational seminars were presented by industry leading companies, and over $50,000 was raised during the Buyer and Consignor Appreciation Dinner for the Hirschberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research in memory of Andy Peek.
