Struggling Orioles Need Boost From Exciting Prospect
The Baltimore Orioles have had a rough July, going 8-11 so far, so it is time for top prospect Coby Mayo to debut and spark a struggling team. Since June 28, the Orioles are 10-13, and that is largely because they have struggled to hit the ball. Their batting average in that time is .239 and team OPS is .704. Both put them in the bottom half of MLB in terms of those stats. Over the past month, the Orioles are near the bottom of the league for most offensive stats. The team has gone flat, and a spark is needed. That is exactly what Coby Mayo can be. The number 15 prospect in baseball according to MLB.com, Mayo has all the offensive tools to succeed in MLB. The Orioles need to make a change, and Mayo is a great place to start.
Orioles lose for 10th time in 14 games: ‘There’s a lot of frustration going on right now with a lot of guys’
What happened?-It began to unravel with a popup in the second inning that shortstop Gunnar Henderson called for but when third baseman Ramón Urías didn’t yield, the two came together, and the ball fell from Urías’ glove. Two runs scored and the Orioles went on to lose for the 10th time in 14 games, 9-4 to the San Diego Padres on Saturday.
Eflin: “I’ve heard nothing but incredible things about this locker room"
Zach Eflin wasn’t ignorant to the trade rumors. He heard and read them. His soon-to-be former club kept him informed. Eflin was in the know and on a flight to Baltimore. This morning’s media clubhouse access allowed for introductions as Eflin stood in front of the locker that belonged to injured pitcher John Means. He already met his new teammates and threw a bullpen session. He expects to start Game 1 of Monday’s doubleheader against the Blue Jays at Camden Yards.
Ravens WR Zay Flowers discusses working in tandem with Rashod Bateman
The Baltimore Ravens selected wide receivers Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman in the first round of the NFL draft just two years apart. The hope is that the duo can flourish alongside one another for years in purple and black, especially with how much talent each has. When speaking to the media, Flowers discussed working in tandem with Bateman this season, especially with both expected to take on massive roles in the offense. He mentioned how they’re going to work every day, trying to get better as best they can. “Honestly right now, we’re just coming out every day and going to work. [We’re] trying to get better every day. We’re just focused on day-to-day, and we’re focused on the first game. We’re just coming out every day trying to work, get better, listen to our coaches, and execute everything as best we can.” Flowers burst onto the scene during his rookie season, while Bateman has struggled with injuries over his first three professional seasons. However, if the two can get it going at the same time in 2024, it could help the team’s offense reach new heights and help them win another Super Bowl.
Orioles Jackson Holliday stubbornness could cost them Tarik Skubal and more
The Baltimore Orioles are off to a rollicking start at the trade deadline, adding Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Zach Eflin to supplement an injury-stricken rotation. Pitching is the primary area of need for Baltimore, and there's still plenty of room to upgrade the roster. The O's have no shortage of quality prospects at their disposal, to the point where Baltimore can outbid any MLB team if their will is strong enough.
Ravens WR Rashod Bateman ‘excited’ to see Mark Andrews, Isaiah Likely together in action
The Baltimore Ravens have one of the best (if not the best) tight-end groups in the NFL. Led by Mark Andrews, the unit helps pace Baltimore’s offense, which also includes Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar. Likely has been an extremely pleasant surprise for the Ravens, as he’s stepped in for Andrews the last two years after the veteran was lost due to injury. However, wide receiver Rashod Bateman is excited to see the two together in action, as they have yet to do so over the course of their careers consistently. “I’m excited to see what it looks like. I don’t really know either. You have this guy, you have this guy, you have that guy, and at the end of the day, you have Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry, so I’m kind of like everybody else. I’m just excited to watch it.” Andrews and Likely have incredible skill sets that can feed off each other. The duo should have no problem co-existing, and quarterback Lamar Jackson should thoroughly enjoy throwing to both.
