Where to go Glamping in Vermont

    2021-05-12

Glamping or glamorous camping is all the rage in Vermont now. It's more removed from society than a hotel or motel room. But, it has many more creature comforts than traditional tent camping.

But, where can you go glamping in the state of Vermont? Not just anywhere will work. You'll want to choose somewhere that has access to amenities like showers while still being remote enough to enjoy your time alone.

So, if you're not familiar with glamping, let me explain how it's different than camping. When you go camping in Vermont, you bring your own tent and set it up in a remote area to experience the simple beauty of nature.

When you go glamping, there is generally some type of framed shelter already in a natural setting. And, it is close enough to amenities like electricity, a toilet, and a refrigerator.

Of course, Vermont is the perfect spot for camping. We have miles and miles of woods and pastures where you can set up and be alone for a weekend. And, for those that want glamping instead of camping, make sure you go here:

Timbertrail Post and Beam in Shaftsbury

Timbertrail Farm offers an insulated post and beam barn on a 200-year-old stone foundation. You can set up your glamping supplies on a 25x40 heavy-duty pine planked floor.

Amenities include electricity, toilet, potable water, kitchen, showers, and a picnic table. And, pets are allowed at this location. You can have up to two guests.

There is no WiFi at this Vermont location and whatever you bring in, you must bring out. No laundry services. You can have a campfire but there is no heat, so bring some warm blankets depending on when you visit.

    Sugar Wood Meadow in Bethel

This campsite is beside a wooded brook in a pasture overlooking a farm. This private tent site has beautiful views of the sunsets off the front porch.

You will be staying in a spacious 9 foot round canvas tent with a carpet and a mattress. This tent sleeps 2 to 4 people but is most comfortable for only two. You can bring along another tent to set up if you like.

You will need to bring your own sleeping bags and bedding. Amenities include a fire pit, chairs, sink, grill, outdoor shower, and solar patio lights.

There is no toilet at this Vermont glamping location but there is potable water. No wifi, laundry, or garbage disposal. What you bring in, you will need to take out.

The Bus at Broadfork Farmstead in Elmore

This is just about as close to glamping as you can get in Vermont. Stay at a converted bus on Broadfork Farmstead. Enjoy the beautiful view of Greensboro. It's only a short visit to Caspian Lake beach.

The bus contains two chairs that convert to twin-size beds. You can bring your own bedding. You can enjoy many amenities at this Vermont location including electricity and WiFi.

You can also request breakfast or picnic baskets filled with farm products and curated local foods. This bus can accommodate only two people.

Campfires are allowed and toilets are available. No pets at this location. You can purchase extra firewood as well as eggs from the farm for breakfast. Rent a kayak while you're there.

So, if you're looking for a glamping location in Vermont, I hope you'll consider one of these spots. Remember to call ahead for your reservation. In some cases, these spots fill up as much as 3 months ahead of time.

You won't want to miss out on these because you waited until the last minute.
