Are you wondering where to celebrate Independence Day in Vermont? While there are many places to enjoy the holiday, these spots have the best fireworks around.
Independence Day in Vermont
If you're heading to Vermont for the long weekend, make sure that you plan for time to enjoy the fireworks while you're here. Many small towns and cities in the Green Mountain State have spectacular fireworks displays for residents and visitors alike.
Where can I watch the 4th of July fireworks in Vermont?
Typically, fireworks celebrations are put on by each individual town or private organization. The number of fireworks displays will really depend on the town's budget.
These are a few of the best spots I've visited for fireworks displays.
Rutland, Vermont Fair Grounds
Rutland City will be having its annual fireworks show at the Vermont State Fair Grounds. Parking is available on the field. But, you can watch the display from almost anywhere in the city. The fireworks will begin at 9:45 PM on July 4th.
Stowe, Vermont Main Street Parade
This year, Stowe will be hosting its Main Street Parade along with a live music performance. This will be available on July 4th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on the Village Green. At the end of the day, be sure to head to the May Events Fields to watch the fireworks shortly after dusk.
Burlington, Vermont Fireworks Display
This year, the Lake Champlain waterfront area has lots going on over the July 4th holiday. Stop by the waterfront area to visit a great selection of vendors and enjoy family-friendly activities. These events being at 5:30 PM. Fireworks will start shortly after dusk.
Colchester, Vermont Parade
If you're in the Colchester, Vermont area, plan to stop by the High School and watch the parade at 10:00 AM. Later on in the day (after dusk), you can stop by the Bayside Softball Field and enjoy the fireworks display.
As a note, Vermont is experiencing unusually dry conditions this year. Please contact each area to be sure that the fireworks display will still be happening. Red flag warnings may be in place that prohibits fireworks due to the possibility of fire hazards.
July 4th celebrations often include parades, live music, food vendors, and fireworks. This is only a very small list of towns in Vermont that are having celebrations.
If you're from the Green Mountain state, chances are that you know whether or not your town will be having a celebration this year. While you're visiting, be sure to stop by small local businesses while you're there.
Enjoy lunch at a local diner or get a scoop of ice cream while you watch the parade. Local businesses appreciate your support as they recover from the effects of being closed due to COVID-19.
And, if you're in the Castleton, Vermont area, this is one of my favorite diners to enjoy lunch or dinner before heading out to watch the fireworks display.
