Music Festivals in Vermont
The first thing you'll notice when visiting Vermont in the summer is that it's beautiful - and what better way to experience the beauty than attending one of Vermont's many music festivals?
There are a lot of festivals going on this year, but these five are my favorites. If you're looking for more information about any of these events, check out their websites or contact them directly!
Basin Blue Grass Festival in Brandon
This is a four-day festival in Brandon, Vermont that features bluegrass and other musical styles. They have some great artists lined up this year including Dave Nichols and Spare Change. Make sure that you stop by Thursday evening for their spaghetti supper. This is held from July 8 to July 11.
Vermont Rennaisance Faire in Stowe
This festival is held yearly in June so plan on attending next year in 2022. This three-day event features impressive acting, artisans, musicians, and more. There will be something for everyone at this festival! For ticket information visit their website.
There's so much to do at the Rennaisance Faire in Stowe, Vermont besides listen to the music. Make sure you check out the shows, grab a bite to eat, and stop by the vendor stalls to buy handmade items fit for any renaissance man, woman or child.
Vermont Brewer's Festival
Looking to try some local beer? This is the perfect event for you then! They have great food, live music, and of course an amazing selection of locally brewed beers. And don't forget to stop by the Vermont State House while you're in town! This has been postponed until 2022 due to COVID-19.
Ben and Jerry's Concert on the Green Series
Ben and Jerry's Concert on the Green series runs during July and August this year. You will find many different musicians playing in Shelburne Vermont. Musicians include Old Crow Medicine Show, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Grace Potter, Dr. Dog and more.
This series of concerts is a live music experience that takes place at Shelburne Museum. It has been happening since 2001. Head there to enjoy folk, indie, and blues music.
Castleton Concert Series in Vermont
Head to Castleton University and check out their summer concert series. In July and August, you can expert to hear Satin & Steel, Wyld Nightz Band, and Boston Crusaders. Castleton Concert Series is free and open to the public.
What to bring to a music festival
Each of these venues is slightly different. Most are outside so you should dress accordingly and remember to bring sunscreen and bottled water. Not all welcome pets so please check.
Evenings in Vermont can still be cool so be sure to bring a sweater in case the temperature drops. Many of these concerts will be canceled if it rains or thunders so it's important to call the location first and make sure if the weather looks threatening.
Some spots provide refreshments for purchase. And, there are small stores and restaurants in many Vermont towns. You can stop by and grab bottled water and a sandwich to go before you head to the concert.
As always, COVID-19 may impact what concerts and events are available this summer. Make sure that you check to be sure that the event is still on. Call ahead or visit the site's Facebook page to check for the latest announcements and cancellations.
