    Montpelier, Vermont in the Fall

I've done the research for you and put together my top picks on where to go and what sights not to miss during foliage season in Montpelier, VT. Montpelier, Vermont is full of amazing places that are worth stopping for when you're in the area.

My goal was not only to pick out great spots for leaf-peeping but also to make sure these were places I'd actually go back again next time I visited.

    Take a walk

Wonder through town and enjoy the fall foliage. It's easy to falling love with the city when you stop by during peak foliage season. Color is bursting everywhere and that is no less true than when you take a walk down the main road through town.

    Visit North Branch Nature Center

If you want to really get out into nature, North Branch Nature Center is the best place to stop in Montpelier. You can't get any closer to nature than this! The North Branch of the Winooski River, just two miles from downtown Montpelier and 28 acres in size makes it an ideal spot for those looking to escape their daily life.

    Tour the State House

Montpelier is the capital city of Vermont and it's a great place to learn more about the history of Vermont. The Vermont State House is one of the oldest and best-preserved state capitols. After nearly 160 years it remains an icon in Montpelier, preserving originality like no other legislative hall I've seen before!

You can stop by and enjoy a self-guided tour through the capitol building in Montpelier.

Stop by the Capital City Farmer's Market

Stop by 133 State Street to visit the Capital City Farmer's Market. Popular fall produce includes things like apples, squash, pumpkins, sweet potatoes, and kale.

If you walk through the farmer's market, you will find fresh produce and plenty of handmade goods. It's definitely worth the visit.

While you're there, stop by one of the diners in Montpelier for brunch. I recommend taking the opportunity to enjoy a fresh pumpkin pancake breakfast or maybe treat yourself to a homemade apple crisp with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream at the end.

I hope you'll stop by soon!
