Tips for Hiking with Kids in Vermont

    1. Dress appropriately - Make sure they wear layers, breathable clothing that won't get too hot or cold, and sturdy shoes with good traction. Bring extra clothes along in case of unexpected weather changes or mud puddles!

    2. Hydrate - Make sure each family member brings plenty of water for the hike, especially on longer days when dehydration can become a problem quickly. Pack light snacks like energy bars and fruits to give everyone a boost of energy. These are our favorite kid friendly energy bars.

    3. Take breaks - It's important to keep an eye on your kids' energy levels, so make sure you plan for plenty of rest stops along the way. Bring some fun activities like scavenger hunts or animal tracking games to keep them engaged during these breaks.

    4. Watch out for wildlife - Vermont is home to many wild animals, so it’s important to remain aware of your surroundings at all times and teach your little ones about safety protocols if they spot anything unusual on the trail.

    5. Have fun! - Above all else, remember that hiking with young kids should be enjoyable for everyone involved. So don't forget to bring along a camera and take lots of pictures to capture the memories!
