    Vermont is home to some of the best Memorial Day parades in the country. There are five notable parades that take place annually across the state, each one as unique and special as the last.

    Best Memorial Day Parades in Vermont

    These parades honor their local veterans with a traditional parade through downtown, complete with marching bands and military vehicles on display.

    They hold parades that often include floats, marching bands, color guards, and more. Attending a parade on Memorial Day lets you honor our fallen soldiers with a parade of military vehicles as well as traditional marching bands.

    Make sure you visit one of these displays of patriotism with an old-fashioned parade featuring local fire trucks and community members dressed in their patriotic best.

    Vergennes Memorial Day Parade - Monday - 5/29 - 11 AM

    The Vergennes Memorial Day Parade line up starts at the Vergennes Union High School on Monday 5/29 at 11 AM. Their theme this year is "Honoring & Remembering All Who Served". Directly after the parade is a service to honor our veterans. A chicken BBQ will be held at 12pm at the Legion so plan to stay for lunch. This parade has been held every year since 1946.

    Woodstock Memorial Day Parade - Saturday - 5/27 - 10:30 AM

    Woodstock will have live music both Friday and Saturday. And, their Memorial Day Parade kicks off at 10:30 AM on Saturday morning. Line up at the Windsor County Courthouse.

    Winooski Memorial Day Parade - Saturday - 5/27 - 12:00 PM

    The parade starts at the Winooski School District on Normand Street and then follows Main Street. Traditionally, the parade features many creative vehicles and floats. Join together afterward for a community BBQ you won't want to miss.

    Highgate Memorial Day Chicken BBQ - Monday - May 29 - 11:00 AM

    The Highgate Volunteer Fire Department's Memorial Day Chicken BBQ starts at 11:00 AM and goes until they run out of food. Join us afterward for a community BBQ you won't want to miss. $1 from every meal sold goes to help a wounded firefighter. For $12, you get chicken, coleslaw, a roll, a bag of chips, and water.

    Castleton Memorial Day Parade - Saturday - May 27 - 10:00 AM

    Not to be missed small town parade that includes fire trucks, marching band, tractors, and more. Stay after the parade for the ceremony held in front of the library to honor our veterans.

    No matter which parade you choose to attend, Memorial Day is a time for us all to come together and remember those who have fought for our freedom. Whether it be in Stowe or Stratton, Woodstock or Winooski – these parades provide an opportunity to show appreciation for the brave men and women of our armed forces.

    Make sure to join your local community this year on Memorial Day weekend as we honor the ones who gave their lives so that ours can remain free.
