A shining example of perseverance and strength, we share one local woman’s journey to bicycling every day. Finding a way to boost mental health and take in the world around her, Adele Wellman, of Salamanca, NY, has challenged herself to what was initially a month of cycling and has now turned into something so much more.
Hitting the Hiking Trails of WNY
We’ve enjoyed a beautiful start to the summer season with plenty of warmth and sunshine. It’s the perfect time to be outside! So lace up those hiking shoes, pack a lunch and take yourself on an adventure! Cycling is In This Summer
For seasoned mountain bikers, newbies, e-bike enthusiasts, and everyone in between, the perfect trail awaits in Ellicottville! There is no better time to enjoy Ellicottville’s variety of biking trails and the many benefits outdoor cycling provides. Whether indoors or out, there’s no denying the cardiovascular workout one receives while pedaling; however, outdoor cycling has many additional benefits, including exposure to the sun’s vitamin D-generating rays, improved mental health thanks to nature’s stress-reducing power, and opportunities to socialize with fellow riders. What are you waiting for? Grab your helmet and get ready to hit the trails!
Summer Means Museum Season

While it’s true that not every town has landmarks comparable to the Empire State Building or Mount Rushmore, every town has something special that celebrates its unique place and history.

Business Spotlight:
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to truly mountain bike? I don’t mean riding your traditional family bike through the neighborhood, sticking to the familiar streets surrounding your house. I mean taking your two wheels off the beaten path. Winding through and weaving around the trees on a rocket, stirring up dust and splashing through mud on a clearing just barely wide enough for your two tires, and making it out with nothing but some caked tires, a smile, and of course, memories that will carry you through the summer.

Supporting the Arts & Local Students
For the family and friends of Elisa Hughey, June 15, 2024 marks a special date. Not only is it the day of the annual Elisa’s Run for the Arts, but this year, June 15th marks eight years exactly since the day Elisa passed away after her courageous battle with colon cancer. Elisa’s sister, Brenda Hughey, is thrilled to see the run and the non-profit organization behind it continue to evolve and change each year. One thing that remains constant is that Elisa’s dedication to the arts - both as a teacher and an artist, herself - lives on in the community through the organization’s annual scholarship award and (soon!) some high-visibility art projects in the community.
