The Art of Training With BOSU
Core Performance Fitness and Training is not your typical fitness studio/gym. Our name alone is a statement to our motto. We train your core so that your entire body is stronger, balanced, more effective and injury proof. Our studio is filled with unique equipment that requires your body to be the machine vs. machines that work your body. One of our favorite pieces of equipment is the BOSU ball.

Santa Claus Lane Receives Supports
OLEAN - Since 1986, the Santa Claus Lane Parade has been a keystone event in the Olean community. Each November, thousands flock to downtown Olean to watch Santa - riding atop a fire engine - light the tree that now sits in the roundabout at the intersection of North Union Street and West State Street. With a little help from the community, the North end of Olean could have a tree of its own.

Ellicottville Walking Tour Recently Updated
Visitors and local community members alike will appreciate an updated Walking Tour of significant parts of Ellicottville which introduces people to the varied architectural styles we boast in our beautiful, well-preserved early buildings. Ellicottville has two names: The native name for this location was ‘De-as-hen-da-qua,’ or ‘place for holding court’ and ‘Ellicottville,’ likely since 1818 when the Holland Land Company opened an office here. Our wonderful public buildings were constructed quickly since Ellicottville was designated county seat of Cattaraugus County in 1808. The village became incorporated in 1837 but the county seat was eventually moved over the hill to Little Valley in 1868 due to better railroad access. Today, so many of those buildings and places are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. (The Ellicottville Historic District, Ellicottville Town Hall, and Jefferson Street Cemetery).

It’s no secret that Ellicottville, New York is a good time. From great skiing to fun places to eat and shop, everyone who either lives or visits Ellicottville is sure to have a ball! Exciting Things Happening at the Purple Doorknob
For the past seven years, Nikki Himes has been a familiar face at the Purple Doorknob, most recently serving as store manager since 2020. Earlier this month, Purple Doorknob owners Rachel Northrup-McGee and Scotty McGee welcomed Himes to the team as co-owner! 2024 has already proven to be a big year for Ellicottville’s specialty sock destination, but the excitement isn’t limited to the 14731 zip code. Later this spring, the Purple Doorknob is opening a second location in the heart of Buffalo’s Elmwood Village, and Himes can’t wait to get started!

The 1st UppenOvr Was a Great Success
If success is measured in smiles, the UppenOvr uphill/downhill event on Saturday, March 16th at Holiday Valley was an overwhelming success!. The event was a fundraiser for Team Holiday Valley that supports Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Thanks to the many generous donations and support by the community, over $10,000 was generated for cancer research. And better yet, for every dollar donated to cancer research, Roswell Park is able to leverage an additional $23 from external grants toward that research. Holiday Valley would especially like to thank the event Gold Sponsor West Herr, and Silver Sponsors City Garage, Mud Sweat n’ Gears, Zippo and Marker Bindings.

Learn How to Stretch Correctly
Stretching is a kind of generic word we hear all the time from trainers, therapists and even doctors. We are continuously reminded of the many benefits that come along with performing this simple task but typically do not take the time or even have the know-how to complete an effective and efficient stretching routine. As we age, many of us are experiencing stiffness and tightness in our backs, hips and legs. This tightness can be lessened and even prevented by stretching muscles around the knees and hips like the IT band, the adductors, the quads, and hip flexors.

Pond Skimming is Still a “Go”
The ski season might be coming to an end but if you have to say goodbye, you might as well do it with a rebel yell as you propel down the hill one last time this year. And while you're at it, maybe you can take all that energy and see how far it will get you across the man-made icy pond at the end of Yodeler? That’s right, Holiday Valley’s Pond Skimming event scheduled to take place March 23rd from 1:00-2:30pm.
