McElroy highlighted his top concerns for Georgia on his podcast, “Always College Football with Greg McElroy.” “The big question is will they be able to step up and play as well at the line of scrimmage this upcoming year? As they did in 2022 and 2023, because that was ultimately their downfall there in the biggest game of the season last year,” said McElroy. Georgia football scholarship breakdown after David Daniel dismissal
Here is how the 2024 scholarship roster looks for the Dawgs in terms of athletes on scholarship. This offseason saw the Georgia Bulldogs sign 29 players in the 2024 class and add nine players via the transfer portal. With the team parting ways with defensive back David Daniel, by our best calculations, 29 signatures and nine transfer portal additions would put Georgia at 87 scholarship players on the 2024 roster, but that number is likely to be 85 on scholarship in year one right now, with two delayed until 2025. Unlike in 2021, seniors who decide to take advantage of the COVID-19 waiver for a super senior season will count toward the 85 scholarship limit. That number does not need to be met until fall camp, so there is plenty of time for additional attrition.
