BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL HOLDS BUDGET MEETING
The Brenham City Council met in an unusual meeting Monday morning. The meeting opened with an executive session that lasted 30 minutes with the Council conferring with the City Attorney about Roger Chambers request to have 24 acres released from the city’s extraterritorial jurisdiction. They also consulted with the city attorney about an Attorney General’s open records ruling.

Three people face various charges after their arrest this weekend by Brenham police. At 10:30 p.m. Friday, Officer Garrett Downs was dispatched to the 1800 block of Longwood Drive in reference to a crash. Investigation determined a vehicle occupied by three men struck another vehicle from behind, and all three men fled from the scene. One of them was located and identified as 34-year-old Javier Garcia of Honduras. He was taken into custody and transported to the Washington County Jail for Public Intoxication, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and two counts of Forgery of a Government or National Instrument, Money or Security.

Texas Rattled By 3 Earthquakes In Rapid Succession Near Hermleigh
Texans were rocked with three earthquakes within an hour and a half Monday night. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the three earthquakes were reported at 10:38 pm, 10:46 pm, and 11:56 pm all within the area of Hermleigh, Texas. The first one registered at a magnitude of 4.9 on the Richter Scale with the second registering at 4.4 and the third at 3.1.
