Barton's Ludemann-Ravit earns week six KJCCC Goalkeeper of the Week
Emil Ludemann-Ravit of the 20th ranked Barton Community College men's soccer team has been named the week six KJCCC Division I Goalkeeper of the Week. In his lone game tending net last week, the freshman protector picked up his third win of the year in Barton's 3-1 avenging victory over Dodge City. After giving up a 20-yard strike to the far post midway through first-half action, Ludemann-Ravit rejected the next five Conquistador shots on frame and thwarted another pair of attacks securing the win.

Barton Co. proclaims Oct. 6-12 as National 4-H Week; enrollment underway
The 4-H year runs from Oct. 1 through Sept. 30 each year. That made Tuesday's appearance by Michelle Beran with the Cottonwood District of K-State Research and Extension before the Barton County Commission a recruitment call. Beran said a goal for the upcoming year is to get more kids into the program.

Goss: Jobs lost in manufacturing in Midwest
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Creighton University economist Ernie Goss notes that the manufacturing sector is showing some weakness in this part of the country. "We've lost manufacturing jobs for 2024," Goss said. "The U.S. economy has lost more than between 33 and 40,000 manufacturing jobs just in 2024. So manufacturing, we may not call it a recession, but it sure feels like a recession for certain portions of the manufacturing sector."
