LANSING, MI -- Michigan is surveying historic locations included in the Negro Motorist Green Book. The Green Book was a guide book for Black travelers across the nation published from 1936 to 1966. The book had a list of hotels, restaurants and other establishments safe for Black travelers at the time. The survey will be used to produce a historic context of African American recreation tourism in Michigan.
