OVER 300 EMPLOYEES AFFECTED BY IMPENDING DISTRIBUTION CENTER CLOSURE IN ST. CLOUD
(St. Cloud, MN) — A distribution facility in St. Cloud is closing after losing its contract with Publishers Clearing House. Fulfillment Distribution Center informed the state this week that it will close the facility on Anderson Avenue sometime in October. More than 300 employees will be affected by the closure. Layoffs will begin in mid-August.
NCHC Announces 2027 Conference Tournament Format
(KNSI) – The road to a conference championship will get a bit longer starting in 2027 for St. Cloud State Hockey. One week longer to be exact. In the 2026-27 season, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference is adding a 10th team, St. Thomas, and all squads will make the playoffs. The first weekend will be best-of-three series determined by the regular season standings. The top five seeds will host the bottom five seeds; #10 at #1, #9 at #2, and so on.
MAN CRUSHED AND KILLED BY A CRANE IN WAITE PARK
(Waite Park, MN) — A man is dead after part of crane fell on him at a construction site in Waite Park. The accident took place when the section of crane collapsed from an elevated workstation, trapping the man underneath. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to multiple blunt force injuries at the scene. The victim was identified by the Star Tribune as 38 year-old Dylan Barthel of Sartell. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Alexandria-based “KOOL TV,” which had aired on Selective TV’s K21GN-D/21.1 and streamed online, has shut down. The channel had offered a weeknight newscast hosted by veteran broadcaster Mark Anthony and a lineup of syndicated programming.
