ELMIRA HEIGHTS, N.Y. ( WETM ) — At least one person was seen being taken out of a home in handcuffs on Thursday after police in Elmira Heights served a warrant in the village.

According to neighbors, police arrived around 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, to serve a warrant at a residence at 1692 Grand Central Ave.

The Elmira Heights Police Chief told 18 News that police were there for the warrant and were looking for drugs inside the house.

Neighbors told an 18 News reporter that activity at the home started around a year ago when the current residents moved in. The neighbors said that both foot and vehicle traffic would be going on throughout the day to the house.

The neighbors said that police have been to the home in the past, but nothing like what happened on Thursday. They added that a man was arrested after being taken out the front door of the home during the warrant search.

Three cars were outside the home around 2 p.m. with police tape wrapped around the front porch.

It’s unknown if anything was taken or if more arrests were made, but 18 News will update this story when more information becomes available.
