    Power outages reported in Southern Tier amid storms, severe heat

    SCHUYLER COUNTY, N.Y. ( WETM ) — Hundreds of NYSEG customers across the Southern Tier lost power during Monday evening’s storms and severe heat.

    According to the NYSEG outage list , 612 customers in Schuyler County were without power as of about 7:30 p.m. on June 17. A total of 352 of those outages were reported in the Town of Orange, 135 were in the Town of Dix, 62 were in the Village of Odessa, 54 were in the Town of Montour, and nine were in the Village of Montour Falls.

    Crews are currently investigating the outages. Power is expected to be back in the Orange area at about 8:30 p.m., in the Dix area at about 8:45 p.m., and in the Odessa and Montour Falls areas at about 9 p.m.

    At about 7:30 p.m., NYSEG’s outage list and map updated to show that 821 customers in the City of Elmira lost power. NYSEG estimates that power will be back in the area at about 10 p.m.

    Earlier in the evening, more than 700 NYSEG customers in Horseheads primarily in the area of Grand Central Avenue lost power for about 30 minutes at about 5 p.m.
