    Elmira man pleads guilty to using counterfeit money

    SCHUYLER COUNTY, N.Y. ( WETM ) – An Elmira man is set to be sentenced in August after pleading guilty to using counterfeit money to purchase a vehicle.

    According to the Schuyler County District Attorney’s Office, Billy Joe E. Giggee, 43, pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a forged instrument in the first degree, a class C felony, and petit larceny in Schuyler County Court on June 20.

    Man sentenced for impersonation during traffic stop

    In court, Giggee admitted to purchasing a vehicle from someone with counterfeit $100 bills. He was later arrested and had additional counterfeit money on him at the time.

    He is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 1, 2024, by Hon. Matthew C. Hayden. The case was prosecuted by Schuyler County Assistant District Attorney Ariana Marmora.
