Update: Rain may not dampen prime fireworks time

The chances for rain for the area are not as surefire as they were a few days ago. In fact it looks like the rain will stay at bay for most of the day. That is a positive change for fireworks displays across the Southern Tier. Hooray!

There is a weak cool front scooting in our direction into the overnight hours and early morning. That front will get a little rain and thunder going in the overnight and then diminish into spotty showers for the rest of the day. We will be left with mainly cloudy skies with some sun trying to make it through between a shower now and again. Keep the poncho handy just in case a cloud disagrees with Karen’s potato salad and tries to wash it away from the picnic.

High pressure comes back and helps with the inclusion of more sunshine into the forecast after the holiday. Warmer and more sun for the weekend with some thunder reappearing, before sun comes back into next week.

Rain and thunder tonight and a low in the upper-60s. Highs in the mid-to-upper-80s tomorrow.
