ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM ) – It was a wild afternoon as the remnant low that was once a category five Hurricane Beryl, swept through the Twin Tiers with many tornado warnings, hail, wind and rain.

Trained spotters reported two funnel clouds – both in Steuben County which signals the possibility of a tornado forming. At this time we have not been made aware of any serious damage or injuries from the system and that is a good thing.

The rotation from those storms could be seen from miles around. The first photo was taken on Harris Hill in Elmira, NY and the second photo taken at Horseheads, NY.

The storms have moved out of the area for the night and our weather conditions will become much more calm as the night wears on. We will end up with off-and-on clearing skies overnight and only spotty residual showers in its wake. High pressure will build back in and make for a much better next few days.

Overnight lows in the 60s and highs in the upper-80s to low-90s for Thursday.
