    One arrested, one critical after man gets stabbed in the neck in Elmira

    ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM ) — An Elmira man is in custody and another is in the hospital after a reported stabbing incident on Clinton Street Thursday evening in the city.

    According to the Elmira Police Department, 33-year-old John Havens was arrested on Thursday, July 11, after police said he stabbed someone in the neck.

    Police said that around 6:49 p.m. on Thursday, units responded to the 400 block of Clinton Street for an assault. When units arrived, a 33-year-old victim was found with stab wounds to his neck.

    The victim was taken to Robert Packer Hospital for treatment, with police listing him as critical but has been stabilized.

    Havens was charged with attempted murder in the second degree, a class B felony, and is currently being held.
