The bridge’s northbound lanes will be closed until further notice while one of the bridge’s southbound lanes is open. Elmira City Manager Mike Collins says it will ultimately be the state Department of Transportation’s decision on when those lanes will reopen.

18 News reached out to the Elmira Police Department and was told that an investigation is ongoing. Officers want to locate the people who live under the bridge so they can hear their stories.

18 News also reached out to the Elmira Fire Department and was told that testing is being done on the bridge with no timetable set on when the results will be in.
