“Fight on Blight” City of Elmira gives updated list of property violations

ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM ) — The City of Elmira released an updated list to its Fight on Blight initiative on Monday, July 15, nearly two months after the first lists were removed for what the city said was incorrect data on the lists .

The updated list to the Flight on Blight consists of property maintenance violations from rental properties and property owners in the City of Elmira, with offenses going back to 2022.

Part of the Fight on Blight initiative was to list the names and addresses of property owners who have violations in the city. In an interview back in May, city councilman Gary Brinn explained to 18 News that this was an intentional decision to hold property owners accountable.

Unlike the first rollout, only one list was released whereas two were sent out in May.

The new list is broken up into several different columns organized by date. The 21-page document lists the property address that has a violation with the property owner’s name and home address listed. The last bits of information include a description of the property violations, the date the case was filed, and the status of the case.

The most recent case violation is listed for July 1 while the earliest violation was listed in July 2022.
