One of three suspects charged in connection with an armed burglary in January in the City of Elmira will serve three years in prison for his role in the crime.

Patrick Woodard, 24, of Elmira, was also sentenced in Chemung County Court this week to three years of post-release supervision after pleading guilty June 3 to a count of second-degree attempted burglary.

Woodard was arrested after a Jan. 29 incident that took place in the 500 block of East First Street in the city.

Woodard and 22-year-old Josiah Stowe-Alington, also of Elmira, were taken into custody immediately after the reported burglary, but the third suspect, later identified as Albey Grant-Wandell, 23, of Elmira, fled the scene.

Grant-Wandell was captured several weeks later.

Woodard and Stowe-Alington were in possession of body armor and a loaded Hi-Point 9-mm carbine semiautomatic rifle when they were arrested, police said.

Woodard was initially indicted by a Chemung County grand jury on multiple felony counts, including first- and second-degree burglary, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Stowe-Allington, who was indicted for first- and second-degree burglary, also pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted burglary. He was sentenced to six months in the Chemung County Jail, followed by five years of felony probation.

Albey Grant-Wandell, who was originally charged by police with first-degree burglary, a violent felony, pleaded guilty to second-degree burglary.

He is scheduled to be sentenced July 22 and under his plea agreement will serve four years in prison and three years of post-release supervision.
