18 Sports Flashback – 1989 Pioneers team pic

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – Let’s go back in time to the 1980’s.

On this special 18 Sports Flashback we go back to the Elmira Pioneers team photo from the 1989 season. We came across this team photo in the Pioneers front office Sunday and couldn’t pass on the opportunity to snap a photo of this classic.

In 1989, the Pioneers had several players who ended up in the big leagues. Future MLB player and manager Eric Wedge, Kevin Horton, Peter Hoy, Jeff McNeely and Paul Quantrill. Wedge went on to become the 2007 American League Manager of the Year with the Seattle Mariners.

Elmira finished the season with a (30-46) record and a seventh place finish in the New York-Penn League McNamara Division. Check out this classic photo from 35 years ago on 18 Sports Flashback.
