    Elmira woman arrested on felony drug charges after traffic stop

    ELMIRA, N.Y. ( WETM ) — An Elmira woman was arrested on Wednesday after police say officers found drugs in her car during a traffic stop.

    According to the New York State Police, 46-year-old Bobbi Jo Cardona was arrested on Wednesday, July 17, on several felony drug charges while having a warrant out for her arrest.

    State police said that Cardona was arrested on the following charges:

    • Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the second degree, a class A-II felony.
    • Criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony.
    • Driving a motor vehicle without an interlock device, a misdemeanor.
    • Aggravated unlicensed operator in the second degree, a misdemeanor.
    • Found as a fugitive from justice.

    Police said that a traffic stop was conducted on Cardona’s 2011 Chrysler Town and Country van on Wednesday, where 4.5 ounces of suspected crystal meth was found.

    Police learned that Cardona had an active arrest warrant out of Bradford County for drug-related offenses.

    The release states that Cardona was taken to the Elmira City Court for processing and then to the Chemung County Jail pending extradition to Pennsylvania.
