ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) – The Elmira Pioneers will roll into their regular season finale, as the winners of back-to-back games.

The Pioneers crushed the Geneva Red Wings 11-3, on Saturday. Elmira’s 2nd straight win comes with an impressive night of offense, and history on the base paths. Aidan Stern stole 2 bases to set the new Pioneers’ single-season record of 27. In addition to the new mark in the record book, the Pios offense delivered 4, 1-run frames, before tacking on 7 in the final 2 innings.

The Elmira bats were led by a (3-4) performance from Calvin Warrilow, who recorded 3 RBI. Andy Schroeder and Aidan Grabowski each had 2 hits, combining for 4 runs and 3 RBI.

Owen Hoyt got the start for Elmira, allowing 4 hits and 1 earned run, while striking out 4. After 6 innings, Griffen Callanan tossed a hitless inning with a run earned, before Corning’s Larsen Burch closed out the win. Over 2 innings, Burch allowed 2 hits and a run, while striking out 2.

Due to a dominant Auburn win, Elmira still sits within a game of 2nd place in the PGCBL West Division. The Pios best hope for a home playoff game is a Sunday win over Jamestown, paired with a Doubledays loss to Niagara Falls.

First pitch for Elmira’s regular season finale is slated for 4:05 p.m. at Dunn Field.
