CHEBOYGAN – The Cheboygan Major Boys (10-12) all-star baseball team put itself in a decent position to make the championship game. EMMET COUNTY -- Olivia Flynn is one of the the most skilled basketball players in northern Michigan and now she wants to showcase that at the Division 1 level in college. Vanderbilt baseball transfer commit Joseph Dzierwa withdrew from the portal to head back to Michigan State, according to a report Wednesday from Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball. Dzierwa was the Commodores' top transfer commit and projected as a member of the weekend rotation. At Michigan State, the 6-7 southpaw had a 4.83 ERA in 30 appearances (27 starts).

Kellison King
Local Harbor Springs artist and longtime Quarters gallery owner Kellison King passed away peacefully on July 2 in her Jackson, Michigan home, one week before her 81st birthday. Kellison will be remembered for her visionary ideals, enjoyment of philosophical conversation, creative mind, and immense talent. A prolific artist, she leaves a legacy of beauty and the gift of numerous watercolor landscapes of Harbor Springs and the surrounding area.
Rodney Raymond Pontius
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Rodney Raymond Pontius. He passed away peacefully at his home on June 28, 2024, in Petoskey, Michigan. Rodney was born on November 18, 1934, in Harbor Springs, Michigan to Raymond Pontius and Erma (Sheffield) Pontius. He served in the United States Navy for two years before being happily married to his wife, Shirley Pontius, in 1958. They enjoyed 51 wonderful years together.

GEORGETOWN, Del. — The Indian River School District Community Education Program is preparing for its second year of operations following its revival post-COVID-19.
