Brenda Carr, 73, of Grayling
Brenda Louise Carr, 73 of Grayling, passed away on June 29, 2024 at home with her family. Brenda was born in Wyandotte, MI to the late Marshall and Sarah “Sally” (Folgado) Granger on April 12, 1951. She was the second of seven children and very close to her siblings. She moved up to Grayling in the late 70’s where she met the love of her life Allen “Chauncey” Carr and together they raised three daughters. Brenda truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; working on puzzles, shopping, online slot games, chatting with friends, listening to music (subjecting her family to Roger Whittaker cause he was “The Man”), playing cards and mostly spending time with her family whether it be at family gatherings or an all night “Granger Girls” coffee and card party.

We're Off to Alpenfest!
Carnival lights, parade floats, and daily live music acts will take over Gaylord when Alpenfest returns for its 59th year, July 9-13. This time-honored celebration pays homage to the town’s Alpine theme, which means lederhosen is the outfit of choice and Bavarian eats and treats will never be more than a stone’s throw away. (There actually is a stone throwing contest, just in case you want to test that theory.) Highlights of the festival include multiple parades and concerts, the TJ Schmidt carnival, Alpenfest Idol and the Alpenfest Queens and Princess pageants, brat and pie eating contests, and so much more. We particularly like the Burning of the Böögg (pictured), when you write down your worries and woes and then let them burn away. See the full week of events at gaylordalpenfest.com/2024-schedule.
