Boyne City Police Department warns of gasoline thefts
CHARLEVOIX COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- The Boyne City Police Department is warning of gasoline thefts in the area. The police department said in a statement that "starting around the 4th of July, of gasoline being siphoned directly out of motor vehicle fuel tanks (Passenger Vehicle, Watercraft, Riding Lawnmower) while parked in a driveway, stored on a trailer, or left in a backyard."

GAYLORD — Voters in the Aug. 6 primary will select one of four candidates to become the next probate judge in the 46th Circuit Court for Otsego County. The current judge, Michael Cooper, who has served since being appointed by Gov. John Engler in 2000, is retiring. Courtney Cadotte, David Delaney, Kevin Hesselink and Paul Slough are running to replace Cooper.

Jeffrey “Jeff” Allen Skinner, age 30 of Gaylord, Michigan passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024, in Unadilla, Georgia while vacationing with his parents. Jeffrey was born September 26, 1993, in Clare, Michigan, the son of Jeffrey W. Skinner and Karen (Henry) Skinner. Jeff enjoyed football, skateboarding, fishing, playing with all his nieces and nephews and he loved playing his guitar, he took it everywhere. It really soothed your soul listening to him play. Jeff played football in Harrison and Manton, Michigan, Jeff played in a band in Lake City and played in the band at the Leota Community Church in his younger years.

East Jordan’s Korbyn Russell verbally commits to play baseball at Michigan State
EAST JORDAN - Korbyn Russell was a star for the East Jordan baseball team this past spring as a junior, striking out 157 batters in 70.1 innings of work, posting a 1.91 ERA, which ranked him top three all-time in the state for strikeouts per seven innings. Russell has committed to play at Michigan State following his senior year at East Jordan. He is a three-sport varsity athlete, playing football, basketball, and baseball. When he went to visit East Lansing, it all worked out. “I just like the culture and I like the way they kind of approached me. I went to their visit; they showed me around. I liked everything and I thought it’d be a good fit.” Said Russell. He will only be playing baseball for the Spartans when he gets on campus, but for now he hopes to lead the Red Devils football, basketball, and baseball teams to successful seasons this upcoming year.
U.S. Army National Guard Prepares to Take Additional Action under CERCLA to Address PFAS in Grayling Private Drinking Water Wells
LANSING, Mich. — The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published a final rule on drinking water standards for certain per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) on April 26, 2024. Under these new standards, which became effective on June 25, 2024, some private drinking water wells that were previously sampled have been found to exceed the new maximum contaminant levels (MCLs). The U.S. Army is working to incorporate those standards into its restoration program under the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA).
