Second Phase of Redevelopment at Kingsland Commons Set to Begin this Summer
Construction on the second phase development of Kingsland Commons, the former Greenpoint Hospital Campus, is set to begin this summer. The redevelopment will include an 18-story building with 311 permanently affordable homes serving low income residents including formerly homeless individuals and families. Construction is expected to be completed in April 2027.
Funeral today for NYPD officer killed in Long Island nail salon crash
NEW HYDE PARK, N.Y. - A funeral is being held Saturday for NYPD Officer Emilia Rennhack. Rennhack, 30, was killed when an SUV slammed into a nail salon in Deer Park on Long Island on June 28. The funeral is taking place at the New Hyde Park Funeral Home on Lakewood Road. "She wanted to make our city safe so others could pursue that same dream. This is a tragic, tragic accident," Mayor Eric Adams said."It's a sad day for all law enforcement. Emilia was one of our beloved officers in the 102 Precinct. She did domestic violence at the precinct, and she went above and beyond for the community, for everyone. She's gonna be missed," Caban said. Rennhack's husband is a detective who worked in the same police precinct. The two were married recently. Upgraded charges expected against driverSurveillance video captured the moment of impact. Prosecutors have charged Steven Schwally, 64, with DWI in the deadly crash. Upgraded charges are expected to be announced. Schwally told responding officers he had 18 beers the night before the crash, police said. He has a prior DWI conviction from 10 years ago and is currently being held on $1 million bail.
MTA Announces Subway Service Enhancements, Extended Service To Beaches
The next phase of subway service increases will enhance service on several subway lines serving the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens. As of Monday, July 1, enhanced midday and evening service on weekdays has been added to the B, D, J and M lines. Riders will now see trains arriving every eight minutes during the midday and evening periods. Starting Saturday July 6, the 3 and 5 lines will see enhanced weekend service, riders will see trains arriving every 10 minutes.

According to the criminal complaint, Bradford City Police officers approached 32-year-old Leon A Reedus and, after confirming his identity, informed him of an active McKean County bench warrant against him.
