HARRINGTON, Del. — Before hundreds of spectators in the Quillen Arena’s bleachers and onlookers around the showing’s rail, junior market livestock exhibitors vied for the top spots in the swine, goat, sheep and steer shows during the 26th annual Delaware Livestock Extravaganza The extravaganza, held July 23 during the Delaware State Fair, brought the first- and second-place class winners from the four market animal shows back into the ring with tuxedoed judges and an enthusiastic crowd for selection of the grand and reserve champions.

Lincoln, DE - The Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred last night in Lincoln. On July 25, 2024, at approximately 10:37 p.m., troopers responded to a home on the 10000 block of Cedar Creek Road in Lincoln for a report of shots fired. Duffle Bags and More raises $1,000 to support youth in foster care
Local nonprofit Duffle Bags and More Inc. held its second annual fundraiser July 3 at G. & E. Hocker’s Supermarket in Bethany Beach. Fundraising chairperson Vivian Goodman said she and her daughter Carla were overjoyed with the response of shoppers stopping by the display table. Many shoppers bought more than one of the variety of handmade toiletry bags that can be used for school, cosmetics or beach supplies.

Dover’s new Recovery Cafe opens to the public this Friday after hosting a soft open last week for community members to see the space. Recovery cafes are community spaces that are safe and drug- and alcohol-free. Once the cafe in Dover opens, people will be able to visit up to three times as a guest.

SEAFORD, Del. – The City of Seaford acknowledged Dr. Steve Carey’s years of dedication and service to the Western Sussex County community by unveiling a sign honoring him. The sign was placed above Memorial Drive, a street he drove down countless times on his way to save lives at TidalHealth Nanticoke in Seaford. Dr. Carey played a vital role in the development of Delaware’s statewide trauma system as a founder of the program and helped bring a comprehensive trauma surgery program to Western Sussex County.
