New school year brings changes and new program in Keokuk schools
KEOKUK, Iowa (KHQA) — A new school year has started in Keokuk, and with it, changes to the elementary school system and a new program for the high school. For the past decade, kindergarten through third grade classes were held at Hawthorne Elementary, with fourth and fifth graders being at George Washington Elementary.
Former Iowa professor facilitating forums in Quincy, Macomb to address issues facing electorate
QUINCY — Author and former University of Iowa sociology professor, Mark Chaffee, will be facilitating open community forums on issues facing the electorate in Burlington and Keokuk, Iowa, Quincy and Macomb. The forums are focused on “Better Informing Our ‘Consent’: Some Problems Confronting ‘We, The People.'”
Fall leaves bring fall programming
As the crisp fall air sets in, the Fort Madison Public Library is unveiling two new programs designed to cater to diverse interests and enhance community well-being. This season, library patrons can look forward to Geri-Fit, a specialized exercise program for older adults, and a monthly Spanish conversation class.
