    Fentanyl, crack cocaine seized in Elyria drug trafficking search

    ELYRIA, Ohio (WJW) – The Elyria Police Department announced Friday it had one person in custody in relation to an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

    According to police, detectives served two search warrants on Thursday, July 18, at residences in the Midview Crossings Apartments on Middle Avenue and in the 200 block of 16 th Street.

    Investigators seized 15 grams of fentanyl and 8.9 grams of crack cocaine, according to a press release from the police department.

    Investigators also seized a firearm and arrested a known violent offender, police say.

    Sobriety checkpoint in NE Ohio Friday night

    Police said Johnny Jackson III, 35, was paroled from prison in early 2024 after his conviction on charges of aggravated robbery with a firearm specification, aggravated burglary and kidnapping.

    Jackson is being held without bond. He faces multiple charges related to the search, including drug trafficking.
