Week two Scavenger Hunt for Books Fun
Family Connection is happy to report another great week of participation in their Summer Scavenger Hunt for Books. The Clues were clever, but not too clever, to keep our "hunters" from finding their new books at the Swainsboro or Twin City Branch of Durden Bank. The staff at both branches were eager to welcome the families and give them their books and encourage the students to read over the summer. This week, 17 new families were added to the hunt, bringing our total to 80 so far for the eight-week project. Families can join at any time. Remember to find the clues Monday-Wednesday on Emanuel County Family Connection or Franklin Memorial Library Facebook pages, then follow those clues to the secret location on Thursday.

Week 1 Scavenger Hunt for Books Fun
Family Connection was thrilled with the participation of the first week of their Scavenger Hunt for Books. There were 63 sleuths hot on the trail that led them to the Swainsboro Fire Department to receive their free book and participant punch card along with friendly greetings from the staff. Some even got a tour of the fire house. This was a great turn out for week #1 and we are hopeful that more families will join the fun.

This month’s edition of Georgia’s Champion, a monthly e-newsletter of Special Olympics Georgia (SOGA), includes an article featuring Elease Turner as the “Volunteer of the Month” for June. Ansley Bonner, Volunteer and Event Manager for SOGA, states that she would not be able to get through the Summer Games without Ms. Turner’s help because “… she always is so willing to jump into wherever I need her to. I look forward to seeing her each year.”
