Arrowhead Transit is a vital lifeline for many people who live in the iron range and across northeastern Minnesota. Previously the city of Hibbing has had their own transportation service, but have slowed down and decreased services in recent years.
National Air Team Professionals Gather for Training, Shared Learning, and Future Planning
Duluth, Minn., – July 17, 2024 – This past May, National Air Resource Management (ARM) Program attendees met in Duluth, Minnesota for their first in-person meeting since 2018. While smoke from Canadian wildfires lingered through the city, attendees from State, Federal, Tribal and non-government organization partners met to engage, network, and learn about new research and processes. The meeting included air professionals from all three deputy areas: National Forest System; State, Private and Tribal; and Research and Development.
Former officer sentenced in death of Eau Claire man
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) - A former Superior police was sentenced today following a drunk driving incident that killed an Eau Claire man and his baby in 2022. Court documents show that on July 17, 44-year-old Gregory Swanson was sentenced to five years in prison and five years extended supervision for each of two counts of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. These sentences are to be served concurrently.

HAYWARD, Wis. - A contest is underway as part of Hayward’s Visitors and Convention Bureau’s yearly campaign. Photo submissions are currently being taken for the 2025 Visitor Guide cover photo. The winning image will also be featured in marketing efforts throughout the year. Submissions are open through August 31. The image must have been taken in Sawyer County and the Hayward Lakes Area. Multiple submissions are encouraged. In addition to the publicity, the winner will receive $500.

Young Track Athlete Advances to National Junior Olympics
DULUTH, Minn.– A young Duluth track star is gearing up for an exciting opportunity. This spring, Duluth 7th grader Zeija Moore dominated the track field with the Denfeld Hunters. She won the section championship, the AAU District and Regional Championship as well. All of this hard work paid off, because it secured her a spot in the National Junior Olympics in North Carolina. There, she will be participating in the 100-, and 200-meter dashes. With opportunities this huge so early on, there’s a lot to keep in mind.
Cupcake Sale and Food Truck Supports PAVSA
DULUTH, Minn.–People enjoyed a sweet treat in support of PAVSA. The Rambler food truck and the Something Sweet bakery teamed up to raise funds for PAVSA in Duluth today. They offered unique cupcakes, such as cookie dough and raspberry passionfruit. People also had the opportunity to try their luck at a drawing for a kayak. The funds raised will go towards the people and help their services. Hosting these events creates a positive atmosphere.
