EMPORIA ( KSNT ) – Emporia Walmart employees drenched themselves in water for a good cause.

The retailer’s Emporia location is joining other Walmart stores across the country to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network.

To make sure this store met its goal, the store managers volunteered to let guests and co-workers dump buckets of ice water on themselves.

“The goal we set for ourselves is to reach $10,000,” Mick Schroeder, the manager of Emporia’s Walmart, said. “Last year we fell a little shy at $9,700. So, our goal this year was to surpass that $10,000.”

As of July 2, the store was at $9,300, and was hoping to break its $10,000 goal today by selling the ice buckets to dump on the managers. The store will continue to raise money for its local Children’s Miracle Network at the Stormont Vail hospital in Emporia until Sunday, July 7.
