Wonderful Wednesday Weather, Then Heating Up!
WEDNESDAY-THURSDAY: Wednesday is the coolest day in the extended forecast, with temperatures reaching the low-80s for the afternoon highs, which is around average for this time of year. Skies will also be mostly clear and sunny, with less wildfire smoke (but still some smoky haze) due to light southeasterly winds of 5-10 mph. Thursday is the first day this week where we could see temperatures reach the low 90s. We’ll start the day off in the mid-60s but mostly sunny skies will give way to the afternoon highs in the mid to upper 80s with a few 90s possible. Thursday our winds will pick up as well, expecting a south-southeasterly wind gusting up to 30 mph.
Standoff with police ends without incident in Wahpeton
A 37-year-old man was taken into custody after barricading himself inside a Wahpeton residence and refusing to comply with law enforcement. Zachary Steffens was later taken into custody without incident by the Wahpeton Police Department, assisted by the Southern Valley Special Response Team according to a press release sent by Deputy Chief Tim Appell from Wahpeton PD.

Dillon Thomas has been on the injured list since July 1st, putting a damper on what was looking like an all-star campaign for the veteran infielder. While he waits to get cleared, DT has found another role on the team. In an effort to keep contributing to this fiery Fargo-Moorhead offense, Thomas has taken up the role of First Base coach.

OVERNIGHT - WEDNESDAY: After storms brought hail and heavy rain to parts of Lakes Country during the morning hours, Tuesday afternoon brought another round of wildfire smoke, leading to lower air quality and milky skies. On the bright side, no showers occurred, and temperatures were in the upper-70s to low-80s, cooler than the past few days. Overnight, wildfire smoke should let up slightly, leading to less haze. So expect some more sunshine for Wednesday morning. Temperatures will also be in the upper-50s to low-60s during the morning hours, so expect a mild morning.

Motorcycle rider hurt after being hit by SUV in Grand Forks
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) - One person was sent to the hospital after a motorcycle was hit by an SUV in Grand Forks, Tuesday. Grand Forks Police say it happened in the 2000 blocks of Demers Ave around 2:50pm. They say a woman named Mary Solberg was turning her motorcycle south onto South 20th Street when a Jeep driven by Skylar Reiff, 29, of Grand Forks drove through a green light and hit her.
Man sentenced for speeding, DUI and fleeing police
FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - A Fargo man has been sentenced after agreeing to a plea deal in Cass County Court. Jens Tinjum, 40, was arrested in south Fargo in May after driving drunk, fleeing from police and crashing into a parked car. He was charged with felony reckless endangerment, felony fleeing, and DUI.
Longtime North Dakota Christian Radio Stations to Shut Down
Longtime Christian radio stations KHRT/1320 and KHRT-FM/106.9 (Minot) have announced plans to go off the air at the end of July. “It is a very difficult economy that we live in, support and advertising has fallen to a level where Faith Broadcasting is no longer able to continue operating the stations,” station manager Roy Leavitt wrote in a note posted on the stations’ website and social media feeds.
