    Endicott man gets 5 years for possession of a firearm

    BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – An Endicott man will spend the next five years in New Yok State prison for possessing a firearm.

    Broome County District Attorney Paul Battisti announced that Elijah Gibson, 23, plead guilty on Monday to Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

    Gibson is expected to spend five years in prison, followed by three years of post-release supervision.

    On December 30, 2023, Gibson possessed a loaded and operable 9mm firearm in the Village of Endicott.

    “The Broome County District Attorney’s office has zero tolerance for illegal firearm possession. Our top priority is ensuring public safety, and those who put others’ lives at risk will be held accountable for their actions. Our office remains committed to aggressively prosecting criminals possessing illegal firearms,” said Battisti.

    Gibson is scheduled for sentencing on September 25.
