Firefighters quell large blaze at Ben Weitsman scrap yard
GEDDES, N.Y. — An outdoor fire broke out at the Ben Weitsman of Syracuse scrap facility in Geddes Tuesday morning. At 5:58 a.m., the Solvay Fire Department responded to 333 Bridge Street and arrived at a large outdoor fire according to the department's Facebook page. Additional resources from the Fairmount Fire Department and Lakeside Fire Department were also brought in to control the blaze.

YWCA of Binghamton Awarded $40,000
$40,000 has been awarded to the YWCA of Binghamton and Broome County's ENCOREplus Program. Senator Lea Webb made the announcement Monday morning.
