ENGLEWOOD — Charlotte County deputies arrested a suspected burglar who left some burgers behind.

Vladimir Belyshev, 43, has been charged with burglary, criminal mischief, petty theft, and grand theft of a firearm, reports show. He also currently has two warrants for his arrest out of Sarasota County.

The suspect left behind plenty of evidence, according to authorities — including an abandoned Burger King food order.

The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office announced Belyshev’s arrest in a news release.

Deputies responded to a call from Sunrise Rotary-Bay Heights Park in Englewood around 10 p.m. June 14, reporting a vehicle burglary.

The caller said a man was breaking into his vehicle, having climbed in through a broken rear window.

The suspect, later identified as Belyshev, climbed out of the vehicle as the caller and his friends approached. He ran off toward South McCall Road, the reports state.

According to CCSO, the suspect left behind an e-bike, a backpack full of clothes, an alcoholic beverage, and several Burger King sandwiches.

The burgers, which deputies said were still warm, were collected as evidence along with the other items.

Detectives later determined that Belyshev had ridden the same e-bike to a nearby store and bought alcohol earlier that day. The nearest Burger King, however, was unable to provide any record of his purchase.

Almost two weeks later, deputies found Belyshev at work and spoke to him about the allegations.

“While questioning Belyshev, he gave a full confession to that crime as well as two others — including one in Sarasota County’s jurisdiction,” the news release read.

Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell injected some humor into his public statement on the case, while warning others against vehicular burglary in the future.

“While some may not find this to be a ‘Whopper’ of a case, I can assure you that those who had their belongings taken and their windows smashed certainly do,” Prummell said in the release.

Belyshev is currently awaiting arraignment at Charlotte County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
