ENGLEWOOD — The Ann & Chuck Dever Park is home to nature trails, a recreation center, a playground and the beloved splash pad at the public pool.

Many of the facilities at the park were closed and non-operational after Hurricane Ian such as the inside of the $9 million Ann & Chuck Dever Recreation Center.

In March, part of the rec center was re-opened, including the popular fitness room and small multi-purpose room.

The splash pad might be next, according to Charlotte County Community Services Resource Manager Mike Koenig.

"We've had a contractor since June 17," Koenig said. "They've been having some issues with supply chains."

A punch list has been scheduled for Sept. 15 where the contractors will review what scope of work is needed for the splash pad.

"The punch list will give us a better idea at how long," he said. "They'll go through and see what is incomplete or needs fixing."

Koenig said that the public can expect something toward the end of September.

"Hopefully, we don't have anymore surprises," he said. "Knock on wood."

Until then, the park's pool is fully operation if people need a break from the Florida heat.

The pool is at 7001 San Casa Drive, Englewood. Entry fees are $3 for adults 18 and up, $2 for children 2-17 and free for children under 2. For more information, visit bit.ly/44L2pUu or call 941-681-3743.
