COLUMN: Englewood Chamber creates opportunities for exposure

Today is the day ad sales open for the Englewood Chamber of Commerce’s Englewood Map.

This is a detailed map of Englewood that includes an insert/directory of Dearborn Street. We produce 7,500 copies and distribute at the Punta Gorda Airport, Chamber Welcome Center, local businesses, welcome bags for new residents and employees.

The ad size is the size of a business card — 3½ inches wide by 2 inches high. Ad slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and are limited.

DISCOVER IVY’S AND DEARBORNHelp celebrate the 10th anniversary of Ivy’s on Dearborn. It’s set for 4:30-7 p.m. July 31. There will be huge discounts, sales, food, drinks, music and so much more. Come out and join the fun. Ivy’s is at 446 W Dearborn St.

This event is taking place alongside Discover Dearborn. Discover Dearborn is the last Tuesday of every month. Businesses stay open later so people who work during the day can come down to Dearborn Street and enjoy shopping, dining and hanging out.

Not all the businesses will be open, but we hope more take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to showcase Dearborn Street and increase business for everyone.

Discover Dearborn runs from 4-7 p.m. Please make an effort to come out and support our local businesses during the slower time of the year.

SUPPORT OUR FALLEN HEROESEvery day is a great day. It is a great day because of someone else who put their life on the line for our freedom and happiness.

Operation Solid 7 is making kits to honor the 13 lives lost in Afghanistan. The kits contain 13 easy step-in posts proudly featuring the picture and name of the lives lost on Aug. 26, 2021, along with an American flag on top.

Please consider donating $100 for a kit and setting up along the road in front of your business or home. We want to line the roadways with these flags. Anyone can participate.

Call the Chamber at 941-474-5511 to reserve your kit. Operation Solid 7 is a local nonprofit created to stop veteran suicide. Any leftover funds from these kits will be used to stop veteran suicide.
