Buncombe County Homeowner Grant Program Now Accepting Applications
The inquiry process for the 2024 Homeowner Grant Program is now open. This program is officially in its fourth year, and qualified homeowners will have an opportunity to receive financial assistance for housing-related costs. The website buncombecounty.org/homeownergrant will be accepting inquiries through Sept. 30 or homeowners can call (828) 250-5500. You must call or submit an inquiry to determine eligibility.

WTZQ's FM signal is back after July 17 lightning strike
On Wednesday, July 17, WTZQ radio suffered a major power surge when lightning struck in the tower field near the station’s antenna. According to radio station owner, Mark Warwick, the damage to equipment throughout the station was extensive. The FM translator was damaged beyond the ability of local engineers to repair. However, they were able to secure a rental translator to use while the other is being shipped back to the manufacturer. Engineers installed the rental translator, restoring the FM signal around noon tdoday.
