Early showers could help with heat
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - Triple-digit heat index is expected yet again, but early showers tend to cool us off. For today heat indices are expected to be near 106 by lunchtime. Thunderstorms are expected later on in the day, but rain coverage and temperatures remain in the 90s for the weekend. Cloudy conditions are expected following through the week with lows in the low to mid 70s.

Missouri and Mississippi rivers on the rise; extreme heat in southern Missourui
The “mighty Mississippi” and the “mighty Missouri” are both on the rise. A flood warning is now in effect for the entire length of the Missouri River in the Show-Me State, from north of the Iowa border all the way to where it flows into the Mississippi River north of St. Louis. Flood warnings are also in effect for several tributaries of the Missouri.
