Patrick Mahomes Says Taylor Swift Influenced Travis Kelce to Grow His Hair

Patrick Mahomes is joking about Taylor Swift 's style influence on Travis Kelce . The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback quips that his teammate began growing his hair out as a result of his relationship with the pop star.

"I've been trying to get him to grow his hair out and all of a sudden Taylor gets him to do it," Mahomes, 28, said during a special town hall on SiriusXM NFL Radio , according to People .

Kelce, 34, arrived at Chiefs training camp last month with a new look that included longer locks and the return of his mustache. The athlete sported a fade haircut during much of the last year amid their blossoming romance .

On Saturday, Kelce kept his mane under wraps wearing a baseball cap during a preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Florida. He also appeared to be growing his facial hair back in.

It's been over a year since Kelce revealed on New Heights that he tried to give Swift his phone number when attending her Eras Tour stop in Kansas City, Missouri.

Since then, Swift, 34, showed her support for her boyfriend as she attended a number of his NFL games, making her debut inside of the suites of Arrowhead Stadium in September . The "Love Story" songstress was also on hand when Kelce and the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers at the Super Bowl .

For his part, Kelce has also made several appearances at the Eras Tour during his time off from football. He even made a cameo performance on stage with her at London's Wembley Stadium in June. Most recently, he was seen in the audience during her July 18 show inin Gelsenkirchen, Germany .

A source told ET in May that the couple is committed to making things work amid their jam packed schedules.

"He’s a very supportive partner, as is she. The two are making it a point to celebrate each other's achievements, and show up when it matters most," the source said.

In June, a source explained to ET how Swift and Kelce navigate their long distance relationship.

"Taylor and Travis make sure that the current long-distance aspect of their relationship doesn't last very long," the source said. "They both move their schedules around if it's feasible and try to carve out as much time as they can to see each other, as well as each other’s families and friends."

The source added, "They prioritize each other and do anything and everything to make each other happy. Their relationship is genuine and they both want to make it work, so it does."

Swift is set to wrap up the European leg of her record-breaking Eras Tour in London with five nights at Wembley Stadium , beginning Aug. 15. It will be her first show since a thwarted terrorist attack led to the cancellation of her planned performances inVienna, Austria, earlier this month.

She will again return to the stage on Oct. 18 to kick off another North American leg at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida.

Meanwhile, Kelce's pre-season with the Chiefs continues with matchups against the Detroit Lions on Aug. 17 and the Chicago Bears on Aug. 22. The Chiefs' home opener is set for Sept. 5 against the Baltimore Ravens.
