New manufacturing facilities at the Port of Albany’s Bethlehem site and at the Port of Coeymans will create parts for offshore wind turbines being planned for the coast of Long Island as part of New York's climate change law of 2019. The sites would also support 10,000 new construction jobs, according to consulting firm Karp Strategies of New York City.

The plant in Bethlehem, on Beacon island, would produce 150 towers per year for the turbines. The Port of Coeymans would be where the generator housings would be manufactured.

Both sites are conveniently located for barges to pick up and deliver the parts to offshore construction sites. The state is continuing to accept bids which include higher inflation and supply chain costs, despite economic feasability questions.

Ongoing tax revenues in the millions are anticipated from the sites.

More than two times over the anticipated budget, violated federal guidelines for management of a toxic waste site, razed the shoreline without proper permits and haven’t been forthcoming or compliant in requests to disclose the nature of the spills that occurred during grading of the site. Harming the environment to “help” the environment.
