The Oneida Indian Nation began their rise to economic power in 1993 with the opening of the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY. Originally a modest venture in a rural area. it has become a major destination with continuing expansion and renovation.

The largest expansion of the resort in two decades is anticipated to begin later this year and will double existing event space and add a hotel, new restaurants, outdoor spaces and other amenities throughout the property.

The Oneida have made record investments in the local area in 2022 and 2023, with major increases each year in spending and payroll. This is in addition to the casino, not inclusive. The economic impact on the surrounding counties is estimated at $1.15 Billion dollars.

Turning Stone will have the largest convention center in upstate New York, and one of only three comparable in the state. It is also a major golf venue, attracting the US AM tour and several local tournament on 3 courses.

Nearby, on Oneida lake, the Nation owns The Cove at Sylvan Beach, with store, boat rentals, vacation rentals at a lakeside cottage community, with pool, playground and amenities, is popular with families.
